I'm hosting ircd Nefarious 1.2.0 and I have noticed that ever since i
logged my psyBNC in there it's been giving me false nicklists everytime i
connect to it.
Example :
I connect to the bnc
It opens the channels
I see in the channel the nicknames :
nick1
nick2
nick3
nick4

But in fact, nick3 disconnected a while ago, but the nickname is hanging,
so i do /names #channel ( on mIRC ) and the nicklist refreshes and i get
the nicknames :
nick1
nick2
nick4

I hope you get the idea.
Anyways i asked the support staff and developers of nefarious ( thinking
that it was a bug in nefarious because i never had that problem back when i
was hosting nefarious 1.0.1 ) and they explained :
Nefarious now has some additional features psyBNC can't handle/doesn't
understand.
I don't know which features those are but it's a major bug.
If you need more info about this or a real example email me at
black_ps@ymail.com

I have the same problem

The problem with all versions of psyBNC is that they have a bug with
uhnames or desyncing ,you see more people on channel unless you do a /hop
#channel to see the real persons,if not you will see the people that have
quit the irc...can you have a look at it.
could be uhnames
if your client sends PROTOCTL UHNAMES
and psyBNC doesnt support UHNAMES
then psyBNC wont understand the names replies
youll get the same problem with UnrealIRCd 3.2.8
(which has introduced UHNAMES too now)

I can confirm this with Unreal3.2.8, the channel names list becomes desynced when UHNAMES is in use.

Hi,

to solve the problem I perform the /names command on join. Is there an other more comfortable solution yet?

I have the same problem with unreald server. Anyone been able to find a solution to it? Or maybe know how to write a script that would issue a /names command on all channels at login?

The nickname that is hanging is your own (old) nickname isn't?

I have the problem sometimes. This is all the time when I disconnect from my psybnc and connect
to it from another place again. Then I see my old nick as used before in the nickname list.

Also I do know some C/C++, currently looking for the function that handle this.
